Hello fellow EH students,
There's a conference coming up on May 6th & 7th called the Annual Education Conference, put on by the Washington State Environmental Health Association (WSEHA). It's taking place at the Great Wolf Lodge down by Olympia (about an hour away). The theme of the conference is "Environmental Public Health - Cornerstone of Public Health" and it will be covering topics such as water protection, food safety, zoonotic diseases, policy & trends, and more.
We are getting together a group of students to go to the conference, where we can volunteer together (hand out programs, handle tables, etc.) for a reduced conference fee. It is likely we'll be able to cover much of our costs with SEHA/departmental money. And though the conference is on two weekdays, Chuck has promised to pull strings with EH professors to not give exams on those days. This is an amazing opportunity to learn more about our field and network with professionals from all over the state!
Since it's an overnight conference, we might be able to stay in a few rooms; otherwise, it's not that far away and we can carpool home. You can even go for only a day if you want to.
If you are interested in going, please let us know by replying to this email by Friday, 2/1 so that we can figure out registration & costs. We'll be officially registering for the conference within a few weeks.
The more students that go, the better!
