[SEHA] SEHA Meeting Minutes (10/24/2013)

Hello SEHA members,

Halloween Toxic Terrors Boat Tour

  • Still looking for something to do this halloween season.

Incorporating dinner trip with kitchen check

  • For those who are interested in food safety, we are considering going out for a dinner and perhaps getting a chance to see the kitchen and learn more about restaurant inspection.

  • Still need to talk to Charles Easterberg who works as a public health adviser at UW. Or contact someone in Public Heath Seattle & King County for suggestions and ideas.

  • Feel free to contact us if you have any suggestion.

Going to a Husky game together with SEHA

  • We can attend any regular season game for soccer, volleyball, gymnastics, women's basketball, softball, and baseball for free with student ID or Husky card.

Movie Nights

  • possible things to watch

    • a documentary, "Food, Inc."

    • Save the planet

  • If you know any good documentaries or films which are environmental health related, please let us know.

  • A good opportunity to invite people who are associated with or know a lot about a particular subject to give a talk and discuss with us.

Career Panel

  • This event takes some time to plan and set up. We're thinking of doing it in winter and/or spring. We'll update you regularly.

Spreading the word about Environmental Health & Occupational Sciences

  • This can be done through presenting in high schools, FIG classes, or classes at UW.

  • If you are interested in volunteering, talk to Trina Sterry (

2014 Annual Educational Conference

  • This is hosted by Washington State Environmental Health Association (WSEHA).

  • An opportunity to learn from and network with environmental health professionals and experts in the field.

  • May 12-13, 2014. Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, Washington
